Stay Warm with This Natural Remedy

This morning people across my community we're up early to shovel their snow and sidewalks, yours truly included. In addition boots and many layers, I decided to experiment with another herbal remedy to stay warm. So what's the secret herbal remedy to stay warm, you ask? Cayenne Pepper!

Have you ever noticed how when you eat spicy food your face and forehead have a tendency to redden up and dampen with sweat? It turns out that cayenne pepper (and other herbs that help you stay warm) are actually able to naturally raise the body temperature as can a number of other herbs.

Yes, you can certainly ingest either raw cayenne peppers or consume the dried and powdered herb in your food to stay warm this winter.  This, however, will probably be quite challenging unless you LOVE spicy food. Personally, I find the best way to utilize this natural remedy is through capsules as it spares the mouth the fire. The only downside with this natural remedy is that if you consume too much it will probably leave a harsh pain in the stomach. I've found that the best way to combat this is to enjoy a glass of milk before you ingest your pills. Milk forms a temporary protective coating on the stomach that is said to last approximately twenty minutes, which should be long enough to safely digest. Keep in mind that milk can also stimulate acid production so if you have problems with indigestion, heartburn, or acid reflux you may want to avoid too much milk.

Once you have your cayenne you'll be able to feel the heat and stay warm all winter long. Chances are, this natural remedy to stay warm may not produce a drastic effect but it will be somewhat noticeable. Dose carefully and start small if you're unsure of what your body is able to handle and try to avoid this method if you have heart or serious stomach problems.

Other natural remedies to stay warm include other herbs that bring the heat and help keep away the cold including ginger, cardamon, cinnamon, and turmeric. In fact, according to ayurvedic medicine turmeric is said to be one of the most effective of all the herbs that help us stay warm.
